Type Classification, Materiel Release, Fielding, and Transfer

This major revision, dated 17 January 2013-

o Updates the modification, upgrade, and reprocurement requirements (table 1-3).

o Updates responsibilities (chap 2).

o Updates logistics control codes (table 3-2 and 3-3).

o Adds new policy on developmental line item numbers (para 3-6).

o Expands materiel release policy to cover all users of Army materiel (para 4-1).

o Updates tables to reflect current references, terms, and requirements (tables 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, 4-4, 4-5, 4-6, and 4-7).

o Adds training materiel release requirements (table 4-8).

o Restricts the use of training materiel releases to U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command schools and training sites (para 4-11).

o Establishes the Army Equipment Enterprise System as the authoritative source for distribution (para 5-2).

o Formalizes the requirement to use the Property Book Unit Supply-Enhanced System for property accountability (para 5-2).

o Formalizes the requirement for item unique identification marks and data requirements for all Class VII property book items (para 5-2e(1)).

o Updates total package fielding funding guidance (para 5-5).

o Synchronizes materiel transfer standards with AR 750-1 (para 6-1).

o Replaces the term “combat developer” with “capability developer,” when referring to combat, training, and doctrine developers (throughout).

o Replaces the term “supportability strategy” with “Life Cycle Sustainment Plan” (throughout).

o Updates the Materiel Release Tracking System Web address (throughout).
